Our soccer leagues are some of the longest standing sports leagues at Halifax PLAYS. Formats and seasons vary but include Drop-In, Recreational, and Semi-Competitive.
Now, our format has been significantly adapted from the usual, with strict adherence to guidance from the Department of Health, Soccer NS & the broader Halifax PLAYS organization. All prospective registrants should read our return-to-play protocols @ halifaxplays.com/soccer/rules.
Based on this, we will be having two variations of 4/5-a-side, non-competitive games, consistent with Soccer NS’s guidelines.
Rec Soccer: Structured in a similar way to the Fall rec soccer offerings, with teams limited to 6 players & games being 4 vs.4 by default.
Semi-Competitive Soccer: A league for advanced players looking to challenge their skills while maintaining a fun and supportive environment
One big change: We will ask players to choose which of the above two programs they can sign up for, i.e. you cannot play in both. This is designed both to minimize the switching of folks across different sport “bubbles” & also maximize the number of players who can play at least one week of soccer each week. With very limited spots, we do anticipate spots will run out very quickly.
As always, all programs are contingent on many factors, in particular interest & the possibility that there may be more sudden cancellations of games with COVID. That said, we urge all to stay safe, follow the rules, and stay positive in these difficult times… Thanks for hanging in there!
Please be advised that we are also using a new registration system (via TeamLinkt). Please do contact if you have any registration or payment difficulties in the process!
